Toolex Alpha and Hamilton presses had better systems in this respect. The grippers only held the disc at two points on the flash and the flash could (and did) tear as the disc is thin where the edge meets the flash. The major design fault with Lened presses was the "gripper" system that transported the disc from the moulds/stampers to the trimming station to remove the flash. Lened presses were easy enough to work with, but not as good (in my opinion) as Toolex Alpha or Hamilton presses. and so I left Pye for an uncertain but interesting time at Lyntone. I witnessed one of Mr Lynton's rages when I went there for an interview and yet somehow ended up accepting the offer of employment!. I started as Quality Control Assistant, but was promoted to Q/C Officer after a short time. Hi David I was at Lyntone from 1977 until 1990 when the plant closed.
